Overview
Ryan is an associate lawyer at Heer Law. He graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School and was awarded the IP Osgoode David Vaver Medal for Excellence in Intellectual Property Law. He has been called to the Bar of Ontario.
Ryan has a unique and diverse background that helps him bring a practical business focus to his legal work. He has deep technical expertise having graduated with a B.Sc. in Medical Science and a M.Sc. in Anatomy and Cell Biology from the University of Western Ontario. Before becoming a lawyer, Ryan was a Business Consultant for a multi-national technology company advising clients in a variety of industries.
IP Litigation
Ryan’s practice encompasses a broad range of IP litigation matters, including patents, trademarks, and copyright. Prior to joining the firm, Ryan practiced as an IP litigation lawyer at a national IP-boutique firm, where he also summered and articled. His practice involved complex, high-stakes litigation. He has appeared before the Federal Court.
Involvement in the IP Community
Ryan is an active member of the IP bar. He is currently serving on the Continue Professional Development Committee with the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada. Ryan is also the Senior Editor for the Intellectual Property Journal. He is a member of the Toronto Intellectual Property Group.
Ryan is also actively involved in the IP community at Osgoode Hall Law School where he frequently assists with their pioneering IP initiatives and regularly speaks at lectures for the IP Intensive Program.
